WebDuctal carcinoma starts in the tubes (ducts) that carry milk from the breast to the nipple. Most breast cancers are of this type. Lobular carcinoma starts in the parts of the breast, called lobules, which produce milk. In rare cases, other kinds of breast cancer can start in other areas of the breast. Causes WebDuctal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is cancer in your breasts’ milk ducts. It’s considered a noninvasive or pre-invasive cancer. This means that the cancer isn’t aggressive and doesn’t typically spread beyond your milk ducts. Lumpectomy and radiation are the most common treatments. DCIS is highly treatable, and the prognosis is excellent.
